Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the early 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, has passed away at the age of 42. The actress reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest late Friday night at her Mumbai residence. She was rushed to the hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, but was declared dead on arrival.
In a tragic coincidence, Shefali’s last post on X (formerly Twitter) was a heartfelt tribute to her Bigg Boss 13 co-contestant and former partner, Sidharth Shukla, who also died of a cardiac arrest in 2021.
On Sidharth's death anniversary (September 2, 2024), Shefali posted a throwback photo of the two hugging during their time on Bigg Boss, captioned:
“Thinking of you today mere dost @sidharth_shukla ??”
The post has since gone viral following the news of her untimely demise.
According to Shatrughan, the security guard of her residential society, the incident unfolded around 10:30 PM Friday night. He told NDTV:
“Before that, at around 9 PM, her husband Parag Tyagi came to the society on a motorcycle. I was the one who opened the gate. Later, they rushed out to the hospital.”
Hospital officials confirmed that Shefali had no pulse upon arrival. Her body was sent for post-mortem, with results expected by 11 AM Saturday.
Shefali gained national fame with the song Kaanta Laga and later participated in Bigg Boss 13, where she reconnected with former boyfriend Sidharth Shukla on screen. She had been married to Parag Tyagi since 2014.
The couple often shared glimpses of their personal life on social media and were known for their warm chemistry.
Fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry are mourning the loss of Shefali. Tributes have started pouring in across social media platforms, celebrating her legacy as a dancer, actress, and a resilient personality who connected deeply with her fans.
