Yoga Day created history in Gujarat in 2023. The state government organized yoga events at 75 iconic places, including the White Desert of Kutch, Modhera Sun Temple, Sabarmati Riverfront, and the Statue of Unity. More than 1.25 crore people participated in these events, setting a new Guinness World Record.
In Surat, a world record was created with the participation of more than one lakh people. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, led the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations at the Sabarmati Riverfront. He also announced that the state government will open 21 'Yog Studios' in near future to popularise yoga.
The Gujarat State Yoga Board has so far trained 5,000 instructors. The board is also planning to launch a mobile app to provide yoga tutorials to people across the state.
