The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC Junior Engineer (JE) Recruitment 2026 notification for 1,748 tentative vacancies. The recruitment includes Junior Engineer posts in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Telecom disciplines, along with Scientific Assistant posts in the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Eligible candidates can apply online from 2 September 2026 to 22 September 2026 through the official SSC website.

SSC has announced 1,748 tentative vacancies for Junior Engineer and related posts across various Central Government departments and organizations.

The SSC does not collect state-wise or zone-wise vacancy details. Candidates should contact the concerned department for such information.
The required qualification varies according to the post.
Degree in Civil Engineering, or
Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering with two years of relevant experience in planning, execution or maintenance of civil engineering works.
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or
Three-year Diploma in Electrical, Automobile or Mechanical Engineering with two years of relevant experience, wherever prescribed.
Candidates should have one of the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Science with Physics as one of the subjects, or
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Applications, or
Degree in Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering.
Civil JE: Diploma in Civil Engineering
Electrical JE: Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology in disciplines such as:
Electrical
Electronics
Electrical Communications
Computer Science
Telecommunications
Information Technology
Instrumentation
Note: Where experience is prescribed, it must be acquired after obtaining the required educational qualification.
The age limit is calculated as on 1 August 2026.
Maximum 30 years: Born between 02 August 1996 and 01 August 2008
Maximum 32 years: Born between 02 August 1994 and 01 August 2008
Age relaxation is available according to Government of India rules.
