Comedian Samay Raina, host of India’s Got Latent, appeared before the Supreme Court on July 15 amid a series of FIRs and legal proceedings over allegations that his show mocked persons with disabilities. The controversy, which sparked national outrage and parliamentary discussion, stems from a segment in his online show where he and other comedians were accused of making insensitive remarks.

Appears at SC With Fellow Comedians

Samay appeared at the court alongside co-comedians Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar (Sonali Aditya Desai), and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar, submitting written apologies as part of the proceedings.

When asked by paparazzi for a statement outside the court, Samay quipped:

“Wahin kahenge na, aapko thodhi kahenge”
(Whatever I have to say, I’ll say it in court, not to you.)

The clip of his response went viral on social media, with fans praising his composure and humour despite the serious allegations.

Backs Mohak Mangal in Viral Clip

In another viral moment outside the court, when an ANI reporter questioned him about the case, Samay replied:

“I support Mohak Mangal.”

This comment referred to a separate controversy where content creator Mohak Mangal accused ANI of blackmail and extortion, alleging they demanded ?40 lakh to resolve copyright strikes on his videos. ANI denied the allegations and claimed Mangal misused their material.

Faces Multiple Complaints

Earlier this year, Samay Raina and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia faced FIRs in Maharashtra and Assam for content from India’s Got Latent, which was deemed offensive. Samay also appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) and issued an apology for remarks considered disrespectful toward women.

Key Points:

  • Samay and 4 others appeared in the Supreme Court to submit apologies over mocking disability allegations.

  • Outside court, Samay made humorous remarks that have since gone viral.

  • He publicly backed Mohak Mangal in his dispute with ANI.

  • He has previously faced complaints in multiple states and before NCW over content on his show.
