Deepak Yadav, the father of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav, has been sent to a one-day police remand after allegedly shooting her dead at their home in Gurugram on Thursday. Police confirmed that Deepak, 49, confessed to the murder during initial questioning and was produced before the city court on Friday.

Inspector Vinod Kumar, SHO of Sector 56 police station, said the remand was granted to recover ammunition believed to be kept on their land in a village near Rewari.

According to police, Deepak shot his daughter three times with his licensed pistol following an argument over her decision to run a tennis academy. Gurugram police PRO Sandeep Kumar told reporters:

"The accused admitted he was upset about his daughter running the academy, saying he was financially well off and she did not need to work. They had frequent arguments over this matter."

Earlier, some reports suggested that disagreements over Radhika’s social media activity and her appearance in a music video may have played a role. However, police clarified that no evidence of such motives has been found so far.

On Thursday, Radhika’s uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, rushed to the house after hearing gunshots and found her lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. Relatives took her to a private hospital, where she died during treatment.

Police have seized the murder weapon and are continuing their investigation.
