About The Raman Research Fellowship 2022-23
Overview: The Raman Research Fellowship 2022-23 is an initiative by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology (Government of India). It aims to provide CSIR researchers with an opportunity to conduct research at renowned foreign institutions or R&D Centres of Excellence in fields of emerging/high-priority technology, thereby enhancing their R&D capabilities and skills.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Below 45 years of age as of 30th June 2022
- Regular scientist of CSIR
- High academic qualifications: Postgraduate degree in Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Natural Science
- Minimum of 5 years of service in CSIR by the application deadline
- Commendable contribution to research/innovation in the proposed area, of international standard
Benefits: Selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
- Fellowship of USD 2,500 per month
- International airfare to and fro, by cheapest Economy class
- USD 1,000 lump sum towards contingency and preparatory expenses
- USD 1,000 supplementary grant for participation in conferences or visiting institutions of excellence in the country of placement
Application Documents Required:
- Acceptance letter from the host institute
- Detailed description of the research work to be carried out abroad
- One-page write-up describing the novelty of the research topic
- List of publications (national and international)
- List of Books and Patents (if any)
Application Procedure:
- Visit the original website of CSIR.
- Click on the "Apply Now" button and carefully read all details.
- Fill in all required details, attach necessary documents, and submit six (6) copies of the application form to the respective CSIR institutes.
- Additionally, send a copy of the nomination summary in the prescribed format via email to kamlesh@csir.res.in.
Important Dates:
- Application Deadline: 30th June 2022
Selection Criteria: Candidates will be selected through an interview conducted by a constituted Selection Committee.
Terms and Conditions:
- Fellowship duration is two to six months (in one spell only).
- Fellowship is tenable abroad at CSIR's cost.
- Applicants should not apply for this fellowship solely for training or using host institute facilities.
- Fellows will be called 'Raman Research Fellows' and sent abroad on deputation terms.
- Candidates must present an attested letter of acceptance from the host institution at the interview.
- A bond must be executed before departure, committing the fellow to serve the CSIR lab/institute for 3 years upon return.
- Fellowship should aim to enhance skills/capability and fill technological gaps.
- Candidates are expected to be aware of national science agenda, CSIR’s Vision, and general awareness of India’s culture, history, and socio-economic issues.
