Job Description:

As a Data Technical Lead at H&R Block, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced data solutions on Microsoft Azure's Data platform. You will lead a team of data engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure efficient data processing, storage, and retrieval. Your role will involve guiding the team, driving innovation, and ensuring that the data architecture supports business needs and governance policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Implementation: Lead the design and development of scalable and reliable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS).
Data Architecture: Develop and optimize data architecture and solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics, ADLS, and other relevant technologies.
Team Leadership: Mentor junior data engineers, provide technical direction, and ensure code quality through reviews and best practices.
Data Management: Oversee data life cycle management, including ingestion, transformation, loading, validation, and performance tuning.
Collaboration: Work closely with onshore counterparts, product owners, and business stakeholders to align on data needs and strategies.
Innovation & Improvement: Stay updated with emerging technologies, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and implement automation using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Terraform.
Data Quality & Governance: Ensure data processes meet accuracy standards, align with business requirements, and adhere to data governance policies.

Technical Expertise:

Azure Platform: Proficient in Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, ADLS, Databricks, and Azure Analysis Services.
SQL & SSIS: Expertise in SQL, SSIS, and query optimization for efficient data processing.
ETL & Data Pipelines: Strong background in building ETL pipelines and handling large datasets.
Python: Experience with Python for data processing and transformation.
DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD frameworks, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Jenkins and Terraform.
Data Warehousing: Experience in data warehousing architecture, design, and implementation.
Leadership: Experience as a technical lead, managing data-oriented projects, and working in an onshore-offshore model.
